Kino Svetozor, located off of Wenceslas Square is one of the best independent movie theaters in Prague. The theater offers an art house atmosphere complete with two screening halls with digital project Sony 4K, a bar and café with Wi-Fi Internet and their own brew of beer, and comfortable inexpensive seats.
Svetozor shows independent films, mainstream movies, classics, Czech and international flicks and more. International films are presented in their original language with Czech subtitles. If you wish to catch a Czech movie and do not understand the language, Svetozor offers many Czech English-friendly films with subtitles. This hip urban art house theater hosts many movie festivals including the Bollywood Festival and much more, miniature festivals dedicated to classic stars such as Audrey Hepburn, etc. Every Monday the theater shows documentaries from around the world. As an extra-added bonus Svetozor also broadcasts live HD Met performances from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City and also features screenings for seniors.
Inside the Svetozor Cinema complex there is also an interesting shop called Terry Posters where you will find everything dealing with movies including fiction, DVDs, clothes, original posters, poster exhibitions and more. The original poster collection is extensive, with Czechoslovakian movie posters spanning from 1930-1989.
