Art Elementary School in Prague 5, Stodůlky

The Art Elementary School in Stodůlky in Prague 5 recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of its foundation, and over the years has been consistently providing a variety of Prague art courses for children aged 5 to 18 years.

The Art Elementary School has music, dance, fine arts and literary-drama departments. The music department, which is the oldest and has traditionally the highest number of students offers classes where children will learn to play various musical instruments - the most popular being piano, fipple and transverse flutes, accordion, violin and trumpet. In the literary-drama section children learn abilities from traditional recitation to modern acting. When studying at the fine arts department children learn about the basics of drawing, painting, graphic arts, modeling and history of fine arts. When studying dance children at first master the basic moves and steps and gradually move up to classical ballet and modern and folk dance. Children attend either individual or group lessons. Children’s work is presented regularly at public concerts, theater performances, fine arts exhibitions, etc.

The majority of classes take place in the main seat of the school, which is a 200 year old building, formerly an elementary school, which has undergone a costly reconstruction to restore it to its current excellent condition. The school is easily accessible to the general public thanks to the metro and bus stations, which are located close by.
