One of the largest city parks in Prague, Stromovka Park was once known as the Royal Game Reserve. This exceptional park is located near the Vltava River close to the metro station Nádraží Holešovice.
In recent years, Stromovka Park has become a real magnet in Prague for all lovers of sports and movement, not only because of its location, but also because it offers many marked bike and cross-country ski trails. However, the park has a lot more to offer for couples who long for romantic walks and for those interested in the depths of outer space, as the renowned Planetarium Prague is located in the park as well.
Stromovka is one of Prague’s oldest parks. It was most likely founded by the significant Czech King Otokar II. of Bohemia in 1628 as a private game preserve. Nevertheless, the whole park was repeatedly damaged in war conflicts in the following centuries. The park was renovated and opened to the public in 1804.
