Studio Gens

The architect Olga Frydecká and interior designer Šárka Špačková combined their powers to create Studio Gens, which was established in 1997.

They presented their work to the public a year later for the first time, when they organized the exhibition A Slightly Different Interior. Both women design and install interiors together and are also involved in designing furniture. Olga Frydecká and Šárka Špačková have known each other since they were small kids and that is maybe why they work together so well and complement each other excellently. They want each interior to reflect the personality and demands of its owner. They prefer a minimalistic concept for interiors and do not follow the newest trends in interior design at any rate. Studio Gens respects the motto that less is often more.

They prefer to use traditional materials such as wood, crystal glass and stone in mild, neutral and natural tones. They also prefer to use linen and cotton as their fabrics of choice. Their designs are processed by experienced and certified craftsmen. Šárka Špačková and Olga Frydecká were awarded the Dobrý design 2000 award for their collection of carpets.
