Art Workshops for Children at National Gallery

Indoor Activities and Venues for Children

During the school year the National Gallery in Prague holds art workshops for children between 5 and 10 years of age, in which they learn the basic principles of fine art.

From October till June children learn various art techniques with each month having a different topic, and in this way they develop their understanding of surface and space. They practice the techniques of drawing and painting, sculpture and 3D objects. They deal with experimentation which gives them the possibility of developing their own personal artistic expression. Under the supervision of experienced lecturers, children meet at the National Gallery's Veletržní Palace every Wednesday from 4 p.m. till 5:30 p.m. They are are divided into two groups from 5 to 7 years and 7 to 10 years.

The National Gallery in Prague also holds art workshops for families with children in which participants learn about original works of Czech, European, and Asian art from antiquity until the present time.
