The Troja Chateau that belongs to the most important Baroque buildings in Bohemia, is home to the City Gallery Prague’s permanent exhibition.
This permanent exhibition features two sections: The Architecture and Design is dedicated to the history of the building inspired by a suburban Roman villa, whilethe Chinese Chambers explores the remarkable collection of wall paintings whose author is an unknown painter of the end of the 18th century or beginning of the 19th century. In the exhibition you will witness a wide range of paintings, drawings, furniture, murals and more. Guided tours are available only upon prior arrangement for groups of more than five people.
Worth your attention is, however, not only the exhibition, but also the building itself designed by an architect of French origin, Jean Baptiste Mathey, and in warm months also its beautiful garden geometrically patterned hedges, sculptures, apple trees, and romantic fountains. The cellar of the chateau houses an intimate wine museum where you can sample and purchase Czech wine. The chateau is closed in winter.
