The Prague Coffee Museum in Letná pays tribute to the favorite drink without which many people all over the world cannot imagine their morning.
You can learn about the history of coffee dating back to 525 A.D. from a simple and comprehensible exhibition. The exhibition maps the whole process that a coffee bean has to go through in order to get from a coffee plantation to your table in the form of a delicious coffee. The exhibited objects comprise coffee machines for preparation, roasting, grinding and serving coffee, or coffee jars. Besides coffee, there is also an exhibition of coffee substitutes (roasted grain beverages) in the museum, as the great grandfather of the current owner founded one of the first chicory drying plants and a coffee-roasting plant in 1886. Coffee substitutes such as chicory and roasted rye were popular in Czech lands mainly in the 19th century also as drinks suitable for children.
The Coffee Museum is connected with a cafe, confectionery and gallery and also a beautiful quiet garden in the backyard belongs to it. If you feel like drinking a cup of good coffee after the tour, you will be served freshly roasted Ebel Coffee in the cafe. The museum is open every day from 11 a.m. till 6 p.m.
