Centre for Contemporary Art, DOX, is one of the youngest facilities on the Prague scene of museums and galleries. DOX was opened in 2008 as a space that will present to the general public contemporary modern design and art.
DOX aims to present Czech art in an international context and provide a platform for dialogue between the foreign and Czech art scene. painting, sculpture, photography, design, architecture, film, video and new media and their various overlaps. Every year works of art of the finalists of the prestigious Jindřich Chalupecký Award given to young artists are displayed at DOX.
In the minimalist interior of the Centre for Contemporary Art by architect Ivan Kroupa you can also find an international bookshop of art and design Bendox with a large selection of books on modern art, architecture and design. The designshop DOX by Qubus offers its visitors top Czech design. You can find porcelain, glass, jewelry and the like by artists of such names like Bořek Šípek, Olgoj Chorchoj, Maxim Velčovský, Eva Eisler, František Vízner, Oldřich Plíva and many others. In 2008 the designshop received the Czech Grand Design Award for the Shop of the Year. On the second floor of DOX there is a cafe with a terrace where you can enjoy a cup of tasty coffee. Contrary to other museums and galleries that are usually closed on Mondays, DOX is closed every Tuesday.
